Several weeks have passed since the resurgence of COVID-19, and Vietnam in general, and Hanoi in particular, have been carrying out vaccination campaigns for citizens as well as civil servants and employees.
Perhaps, to successfully administer each vaccine dose to the people, in addition to the dedicated medical staff working day and night without complaint, there are also the figures of volunteers in blue uniforms. Surely, this is a large force, with a spirit of selfless dedication, undeterred by the pandemic, to help the whole country fight the epidemic.
"Wherever youth are needed, youth will be there; whatever is difficult, youth will overcome it" - This saying is probably true for Vietnamese youth in general and students of the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Construction in particular. The Student Volunteer Team of the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Construction, under the Faculty's Youth Union, is one of the leading volunteer teams in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Amidst the complicated COVID-19 situation in Hanoi, the University of Civil Engineering is one of the vaccination points in Hai Ba Trung District. Despite the complex pandemic situation, students from the Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering Faculty's Student Volunteer Team are undeterred by difficulties and are still participating on the front lines to support the vaccination of the public.
Every day, the students have to wake up early to start vaccinating people at 7:00 AM. The work is quite tiring as the students have to handle all stages of the vaccination process, from checking forms, assisting with filling out forms, maintaining social distancing, measuring blood pressure, assisting with injections, and providing post-vaccination care. Due to the tense pandemic situation, maintaining social distancing and caring for people in the vaccination area is also very difficult.
On some days, the number of people receiving injections reached thousands, and the volunteer students from the department had to work at full capacity. They had to continue working even before lunch, and on many days they didn't get a break until 8 PM. The students were almost completely exhausted, but they remained cheerful and smiling because they had contributed their efforts to the nationwide fight against the pandemic. Perhaps that is the spirit of volunteerism that students of Construction Engineering in general, and students of the Civil Engineering and Construction Technology department in particular, have brought and spread to everyone.
