II. Introduction to the training program:
The Civil and Industrial Construction major within the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Construction provides in-depth training in areas such as structural design, construction management and supervision, and quality control of civil and industrial construction projects serving human life, such as: houses, factories, theaters, stadiums, train stations, television towers, power transmission towers, etc.
Students enrolled in the English-language XE and French-language XF Civil and Industrial Engineering programs will study English, French, and specialized subjects in English and French throughout their course. After completing their fourth year, students have the opportunity to study abroad for two more years at partner universities to simultaneously receive an Engineering degree from both the University of Civil Engineering and the partner university.
III. Knowledge and skills acquired after graduation:
Upon graduation, students majoring in Civil and Industrial Construction receive a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering and possess sufficient theoretical knowledge and practical skills to undertake jobs such as:
- Structural design engineer, designing and advising on structural solutions for construction projects;
- Field engineer, organizing and managing construction sites, advising and implementing construction methods, managing and operating the project;
- Consulting, supervision, acceptance testing, and quality control of design and construction;
- Providing consulting services for construction project management, including schedule management and financial management for construction projects;
- Providing commercial consulting services for construction products to contractors or investors;
- Occupational safety engineer, responsible for organizing, designing, inspecting, and supervising safety systems on and off construction sites.
IV. Scholarship and academic support opportunities:
Throughout their studies, students will have numerous opportunities to receive scholarships:
- Academic achievement scholarship from the University of Civil Engineering.
- Scholarships from major domestic and international construction companies and corporations such as: Lotte (Korea), Hirose, JFE (Japan), Jamil, Coteccons, Hoa Binh, VSL, Eurowindow, etc.
- Scholarships for study tours, internships, and student exchange programs at universities in Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Russia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, and other countries.
- After graduation, students will have the opportunity to receive full scholarships to study abroad from organizations, partner schools, embassies, and governments of countries around the world.
V. Job Opportunities:
Graduates specializing in Civil and Industrial Construction Engineering will have a wide range of job opportunities: at domestic and international consulting, design, and construction companies, government agencies at all levels, scientific and technological research institutions, and training facilities in the construction field.
With the goal of training in parallel with businesses and meeting their human resource needs, the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Construction has signed comprehensive cooperation agreements with many leading corporations and companies in the construction sector in Vietnam, such as COTECCONS GROUP, HOA BINH, DELTA, VINACONEX, VSL Vietnam, etc., to create opportunities for students to intern and gain practical experience in professional working environments. Currently, hundreds of engineers trained by the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Construction are working at these companies, many of whom hold key positions.
Job opportunities are further expanded due to the high potential for articulation with other fields. Engineers specializing in Civil and Industrial Construction can work in many other areas of the construction industry, such as building transportation infrastructure, irrigation systems, hydroelectric power plants, marine structures, television towers, and power transmission towers for the telecommunications and power industries, etc.
VI. Opportunities for postgraduate studies:
- There is the possibility of articulation between disciplines to obtain additional university degrees;
- There is the possibility of continuing postgraduate studies at universities in the same field, both domestically and internationally.
In particular, graduates of the English (XE) and French (XF) majors in the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Construction will have many opportunities to pursue postgraduate studies abroad at partner universities of the University of Civil Engineering or be immediately recruited to work in foreign companies, joint ventures, and partnerships with foreign countries. To date, nearly 900 English and French-speaking engineers have graduated, of which more than 300 students have been or are currently pursuing Master's and Doctoral degrees in countries such as France, the UK, the USA, Finland, Belgium, South Korea, etc.
