History of development

The Faculty of Civil and Industrial Construction has been formed and developed through two periods. The first period (1956 - 1966) was at Hanoi University of Technology, the predecessor of the University of Construction. The second period, from 1966 to the present, is a faculty of the University of Construction.

Early period: 1956-1966

The department, named the Department of Civil Engineering, was established in March 1956 and was one of the first four departments of Hanoi University of Technology.

Initially, the Faculty offered training in three specialties: Civil and Industrial Construction (referred to as Construction), Bridge and Road Engineering, and Irrigation Engineering. Over the next 10 years, the Faculty successively added the following specialties: Ventilation and Water Supply and Drainage, Architectural Planning, Port Engineering, and Construction Machinery Engineering.

During the period 1956-1959, the number of teachers in the department was very small, initially only 8 people, then gradually increasing to 30 people, organized into several combined departments (each department responsible for a number of subjects).

From 1959 onwards, with the addition of staff (mainly from the first cohort of students), the Faculty was organized into departments based on subjects.

During its development, the Faculty established new departments: Ports, Urban Planning, Ventilation and Water Supply & Drainage, Architectural Physics, and Construction Machinery.

The growth of the Faculty of Civil Engineering led to its separation and the establishment of the University of Civil Engineering in August 1966.

The period from 1966 to the present.

Name: After the establishment of the University of Construction, the faculties were divided according to specialized fields. The Faculty of Construction previously only retained the Civil and Industrial Construction specialization and was named: FACULTY OF CIVIL AND INDUSTRIAL CONSTRUCTION.
