NCM Theoretical Mechanics

1. Introduction to the subject

The Department of Theoretical Mechanics teaches Theoretical Mechanics to all students of the university starting from cohort 11 (the first cohort of the University of Civil Engineering), including full-time, part-time, and distance learning programs. Later, it was renamed Basic Mechanics. Currently, the Department teaches: Basic Mechanics 1 for all students except some majors such as Architecture and Software Engineering; Basic Mechanics 2 for students in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering; Basic Mechanics for majors following the CDIO program; and General Mechanics for the High-Quality program.

Current membership: 11 lecturers, including 10 full-time lecturers and 1 visiting lecturer, comprising:

- 01 Associate Professor, PhD

- 3 PhDs

- 7 Master's Degrees

* Head of Department: Dr. Nguyen Sy Nam

* Deputy Head of Department: Dr. Trinh Thi Thanh Hue

2. History of Formation

In the latter half of 1966, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering was established by splitting off from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Hanoi University of Technology. At that time, the Department of Theoretical Mechanics of Hanoi University of Technology also transferred three lecturers, Professor Nguyen Trong Chuyen, Professor Tran Cao Dai, and Professor Dinh The Hanh, to the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering to form the Department of Theoretical Mechanics. Initially, the Department was located in the Faculty of Basic Sciences, but in 1981 it moved to the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Construction, where it remains to this day.
