1. Introduction to the subject
The Department of Structural Testing was established on September 8, 1985. In May 2002, the Department was renamed the Department of Structural Testing and Inspection, under the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Construction, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.
The Construction Testing and Inspection Laboratory (LAS-XD 125) is under the management of the Department.
The staff of the Department of Construction Testing and Inspection consists of 7 lecturers and 4 technical staff members, including: 3 Associate Professors, 1 PhD, 5 Masters, and 2 Engineers.
The Department of Structural Testing and Inspection is a reputable institution for training, scientific research, and technology transfer in the field of structural engineering in general, and particularly in the field of testing and quality control of construction projects.
2. History of Formation
The Department of Structural Testing and Inspection has a history closely linked to the Department of Structural Engineering within the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering.
In 1962, the Engineering Laboratory was established. The teaching staff responsible for the Engineering Laboratory course were part of the Steel and Timber Engineering Department.
In September 1985, the Department of Structural Testing separated from the Department of Steel and Timber Structures. The first head of the department was Associate Professor Dr. Vo Van Thao. The structural testing laboratory was under the management of the Department of Structural Testing.
In May 2002, the Department was renamed the Department of Construction Testing and Inspection. The Construction Laboratory was also simultaneously renamed the Construction Testing and Inspection Laboratory.
