1. Introduction to the Department
The Department of Construction Technology and Management is a specialized department involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training in Construction Engineering, specializing in Civil and Industrial Construction; researching and implementing the application of scientific and technological advancements in construction and construction management; providing professional development for faculty members; and educating and training students through training activities and guiding scientific research.
2. History of Formation
The Department of Construction Engineering, the predecessor of the current Department of Construction Technology and Management, was established in February 1960 within the Faculty of Construction – Hanoi University of Technology. On August 8, 1960, according to Decision No. 144/CP of the Government Council, the Faculty of Construction was separated to establish the University of Construction, and the Department of Construction Engineering was one of the first departments of the Faculty of Construction, University of Construction.

3. Training
The department compiles textbooks and participates in undergraduate training in Construction Engineering, specializing in Civil and Industrial Construction; postgraduate training in Construction Management/Construction Engineering; and doctoral training in Construction Engineering.

5. Scientific and technological activities
- The department organizes and implements scientific and technological tasks and projects; participates in the evaluation and acceptance of scientific projects, regulations, and construction standards serving practical construction production.
- Faculty members directly lead and are key members in scientific and technological research projects and tasks; participate in domestic and international scientific conferences; and engage in consulting activities to develop and apply scientific knowledge to practical production.
6. Extracurricular activities
- Visiting and surveying actual construction production processes and the application of new technologies in construction organization and execution;
- Exchange expertise with departments and colleagues both domestically and internationally;
- Organize activities to introduce the industry and conduct site visits for students and trainees;
- Tourism, cultural and sports activities.
7. Rewards
For many consecutive years, the Department has been awarded the title of "Outstanding Collective Labor" and a Certificate of Merit for excellently fulfilling its training nhiệm vụ by the Ministry of Education and Training; the Department's Trade Union has been awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Vietnam Education Trade Union for outstanding achievements in trade union activities.
- In 2013, the Department was honored to receive a Certificate of Commendation from the Prime Minister recognizing its achievements in education and training, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
