FRENCH LANGUAGE WORKSHOP “GREEN BUILDINGS AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT”

On April 18, 2021, within the framework of cooperation between the University of Civil Engineering and the Francophone University Organization AUF, the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering (CCE) of the University of Civil Engineering (UCE) organized a Francophone workshop on the theme "Green Construction and Sustainable Development" combined with a field trip for Francophone students (XF) at Flamingo Dai Lai Resort.

Attending the workshop were: Mr. Tran Thanh Thuy – Deputy General Director of Visicons Construction and Investment Joint Stock Company; Mr. Nguyen Anh Xuan – Deputy General Director of Fuji Co., Ltd.; Mr. Nguyen Dang Kha – Head of Green Projects, VSL Vietnam Co., Ltd. Representing the University of Civil Engineering were: Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung – Head of the International Cooperation Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thanh Tung – Head of the Faculty of Civil Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Tuan – Deputy Head of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, along with other lecturers and over 150 students from the Francophone - XF program of the University of Civil Engineering.

In his opening remarks at the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Tuan – Deputy Head of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Construction – stated that green and sustainable development is a topic of great interest to scientists and technical universities, and is of significant and practical importance in today's society. The workshop provides an opportunity for learning, professional exchange, presentation of ideas, and sharing of scientific concerns between lecturers and students with experts and businesses, contributing to improving the effectiveness of teaching and scientific research activities of the Faculty.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Tuan – Deputy Head of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Construction, delivered the opening remarks at the workshop.

At the workshop, lecturers and students listened to Mr. Nguyen Dang Kha – Head of Green Projects at VSL Vietnam Co., Ltd. – present and share practical experiences about green projects he has participated in. The content revolved around technical and technological issues suitable for green buildings, issues related to local knowledge such as culture and architectural philosophy, and global issues such as urban adaptation to become more efficient for a sustainable community in the challenging context of Vietnam and the region today.

The conference, with its presentations, field trips, and student workshops, will serve as a foundation for building and developing future collaboration opportunities between the parties.
